Paris

I met my parents in Paris two weekends ago. We were there for three short days. Afterwards, we came back to Budapest. They'll be here and around here until April 4. Here are some unordinary pictures that were taken on our whirlwind tour.

Dad brought us some hot water, and I joined Mom for her morning tea in our room.

Somewhere near Montmarte.

Mom saw these segways on TV or something, so Dad found them on the internet and booked us a tour. Marcus was our cheerful, Texan tour guide. (Matt, you made fun, but I had fun!)

Peace.

It really isn't as heavy as you'd think.

Mmmm...quiche.

Ceilidh

Pronounced Kay-lee.

The Scottish Mission Church of Budapest held a ceilidh last night. We danced Scottish dances with live Scottish music. We had a good time. I've got pictures below, but here are some more.

Wednesday

That's when the other repairman will come to fix the big hole in the wall of the WC room the first man created.

Yesterday, our neighbors below us came up to ask if we had flooding in our WC because they did. Fortunately, we didn't have flooding. A repairman was called and he, yes, promptly came and started to create a large hole in the wall to get to the plumbing. After some digging, he asked my neighbor, "Are you sure your bathroom is directly below this one? I don't see a problem." Hmmmm.

Well, he kept digging and indeed found the problem somewhere between her flat and mine. They came back early this morning to replace the large pipe.

Seriously, Soomi is never leaving town again. Something always happens when she's gone.

The first two pictures were from yesterday. The second two are from this morning.

Horn Milk Loaf

That is, kürtőskalács (<--click "Képgaléria" if you'd like to see more pictures). I had one yesterday with cinnamon and sugar. Oh. What a crispy outside and soft inside. You should come for a visit and have one of these. I'll miss these when I'm not in Hungary.

School Leavers' Ball

That's what is szalagavto in Hungarian.

The student's have a big ball mid-year of their graduating year. It also is a ribbon pinning ceremony for the graduates.

My very first class ever will by graduating this year. It's their fifth year in high school, their first year they only learned English.

This is a late post, Szalagavato was two weekends ago.

Skiing Part 2

Went skiing again last weekend. One of our friends said that skiing in Slovakia is SO cheap, that our whole weekend's expenses were less than just the cost for a one day ski lift ticket in the U.S.
