Cold Shower

I like making things with my hands. I also like not crouching in a tub while trying to shower and not get water on the floor because of the absence of a shower curtain. So, I went to the store and bought supplies to make a shower curtain holder without harming my landlord's apartment walls.

Pretty nice!

Also pretty cold! Our gas stopped working a couple of mornings ago and our gas is what heats our water. Brrr. Hopefully our gas line will be fixed by the end of the week!

Sushi Soomi

Soomi, my roommate, and Elizabeth, my friend, arrived from Norway tonight. I'm so glad they are here.
We went to celebrate the beginning of a great new school year. We went to Wasabi. Wasabi offers sushi and many other Japanese dishes. The coolest part of our dining experience was the train of food that passed us by. We could pick anything and everything we wanted to try and/or eat. It was a fun, exciting experience. Great choice, Soomi. 'Twas a new place for Elizabeth and me. We're going to add this place to the list.

I like driving

I like driving. I really like driving stick shifts.

I rented a car for the weekend to take a bunch of things to Bratislava for some teachers. Once I arrived back in Budapest, it was late and finding a parking spot was a chore. After driving around for a while, I finally found a spot I thought I might be able to squeeze into. It was really quite small, but I felt up for the challege. I usually can parallel park with 1 or 2 tries, but I knew this one would require some wiggling. After much care, and shifting forward and back, I was perfectly parked in the smallest spot ever that someone had tried parking in. Oh! I am such a smooth, awesome driver, check me out...

...then I lifted up the clutch and killed the engine. Not so hot anymore, huh?

Everybody is doing it...

Do I really want to follow the crowd? Am I not giving into peer pressure? Ah! I'll give in. Sure, you're reading this, I gave in.

We'll see how long this lasts. I'm gonna go check out more "blog" like sites.

Home:-)

After five nights of being in Hungary, last night I finally got a real, full night's sleep. Once I woke up and saw the time, I was immediately happy and formed a smile that lasted on my face for quite a while.

So, I got up, made some eggs, and mixed some barley green (Thanks, Linda!) with peach juice for breakfast. Afterwards, I continued the task of organizing and unpacking. Once I got bored, I checked my email and did a little work. I needed to go to the post office, so after I found my phone (I looked all over...it was under the rug. How does that happen?), I left.

I had success at the p.o. as well as shopping at the big market. It is SO cool to shop at the big market. It is so beautiful and colorful and full of life. There is an incredible amount of options to buy meat, fruit, and veggies. My quest? To find celery. I haven't seen celery there...ever! Did I find celery? Yes!! and not in only one place, but five! Ah! Peanut butter here I come:-)

After my successful shopping trip, I came home to put my milk, cheese, and yogurt in the fridge. Then I realized that I forgot to take out the trash.

I'm beginning to feel like I'm at home again.
